Lastiar Rudi Hartono Butar Butar (“Tiar”) joined RMP Law Firm in 2021 and currently specializes in dispute resolution, litigation, intellectual property, corporate and commercial, among others, acting for both Plaintiffs and Defendants representing individuals and corporate entities.
Tiar has been actively involved in advising and representing clients on contentious Intellectual Property, Information Technology, Commercial, Industrial Relations related works. He also been involved in handling intellectual property and debt recovery raids, advising clients on commercial agreements, employment agreements, settlement agreements, assisting numerous multinational and local companies and individuals in safeguarding their business in Indonesia.
Tiar holds a Bachelor of Laws from Diponegoro University in Semarang, Indonesia. Prior to joining RMP Law Firm, Tiar worked as public defender at prominent legal aid foundations in Semarang and Surakarta. He has wide experience in handling general litigation including criminal and civil defence. Tiar is a licensed advocate and a member of the Associations of Indonesian Advocates (PERADI). He is eligible to conduct legal practice in every city in Indonesia. He is professionally proficient in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Representing Orient Group, an Egypt based company, in intellectual property dispute with Indonesian local company.
- Assisting Grab in several cases to defend Grab and its affiliation in a various cases of civil action.
- Representing Commeasure Pte. Ltd., a Singapore based company, in trademark dispute against the relevant government institution.
- Representing Diebold Nixdorf to carry out several civil action against the counterparts to recover its rights. Assisting Caberg S.p.A., an Italy based company, in intellectual property dispute with Indonesian local company and/or Indonesian individual.
- Representing local company in industrial relations dispute against its former employee.
- Assisting DXC Technology in a dispute against a multinational bank based in Indonesia, in regards to protection of its intellectual property, invocation of bank guarantee, advising on potential civil or criminal action.
- Assisting Yellow AI in ensuring compliance with the PDP Law and protection of its rights and liability in launching an AI generated chatbot platform in Indonesia
